Travel Insurance Travel can be a major expense and with all the penalities charged by airlines, cruise lines, hotels you are more at risk than ever before.  In addition, most travel suppliers greatly limit their liability when things go wrong.  The larger your travel investment the more you need travel insurance.  Travel insurance can provide you coverage for medical expenses, trip cancellation/interruption, baggage damage, and much more. Plus many travel insurance plans provide you will with 24-hour travel assistance.  Please read over your policy carefully as there are often many exclusions.  There are many different kinds of travel insurance plans.  They range from basic flight insurance to complete travel protection with medical care, trip interruption or emergency travel services.  Flight insurance can consist of flight accident insurance and/or flight cancellation insurance with  supplemental options such as medical coverage, trip interruption, emergency travel, health services and more.

One common reason for purchasing travel insurance is to protect one's travel investment in the event of storms and hurricanes.  Always read the policy carefully in regards to storm coverage.  As far as hurricanes you can usually buy travel insurance up until the storm is named.  If, however, you cancel because you are worried about a hurricane or other storms predicted path you may not be covered because the insurance company considers it a matter of choice.  In other words, if your flight has not been cancelled and/or your hotel has not been closed and/or cruise been cancelled you will not usually be entitled to any benefits.  If one of the previously mentioned things occur then travel insurance will cover alternate or additional accomodations and flights up to the limits of the policy.

Luggage Insurance  

Your vacation. A time to lose yourself. And sometimes your luggage, too. There is a limit to the airlines liability for lost or damaged luggage. Therefore, luggage insurance is recommended when you are taking items that exceed the airlines liability. Luggage insurance can either be purchased seperately or as part of a travel insurance policy.  Some luggage insurance policies will pay for replacement clothing, etc if your baggage is lost on your outbound flight.  Always read the policy carefully.
