The Peabody Hotel Orlando review
The Peabody in Orlando is one of 3 Peabody Hotels. The others are in Memphis and Little Rock. We have also stayed in the Memphis Peabody which is also very nice but smaller and older than the Peabody in Orlando. All three Peabody Hotels are convention hotels, i.e., they cater to large groups and conventions but couples and families would very much enjoy this hotel as well. The convention facilities at the Peabody in Orlando are massive and connected to the hotel. They can accommodate several large groups and/or conventions at the same time. They are the accommodations for football teams and their families and fans for the Orlando bowl games.
The Peabody is located on International Drive right next to Pointe Orlando, a clean, safe outdoor area of shops, movie theaters, clubs and many restaurants. It is similar to CityWalk at Universal Studios. It gives you a lot of options within a short walk of the Peabody.
The Peabody Orlando is a very large, clean and modern hotel. The guest rooms have a TV built into the bathroom mirror and subdued floor lighting that automatically turns on when you get out of bed at night. The atmosphere is business like and sophisticated and not touristy like most Orlando hotels yet it is only minutes from Disney World, Universal Studios and other Orlando attractions.
The hotel has a large pool area with nice extras for kids including a "beach", shallow pool and a water slide. You can reserve a private cabana if desired. We found the entire hotel staff to be very friendly.
The only negatives we found with the Peabody was the shortage of deck chairs at the pool on one day and parking was an extra expense but they did have a reduced rate self park option but the ramp was 100 yards from the hotel. The room rates, however, were competitive for a hotel of this quality. We thought it was a good value.
Lastly, we can't forget the ducks. Peabody Hotels are known for the daily parade of ducks. There is a long history of this event and you can ask almost anyone that has stayed at a Peabody and they will know about the ducks. Kids and adults line the red carpet to watch the ducks march to the lobby fountain and within a couple minutes its over. Not much really but you won't forget it.
